The "Sign & Sing" at the College Hill Coffee Company last night went very well -- in fact, it may be the single best signing I've ever done. Mark (the other half of the Davis Leigh Duo) works for Borders, and he arranged for the local Borders store to handle the night as an off-site affair. It started out a bit slow, but more and more people started coming -- lots of friends (thank you, everyone!) and the attendance was boosted because a person who lives on our street and who has a marketing business decided to promote the event as "Teakwood NIght" at the Coffee Company (both Mark and I live on the same street) -- which meant there was an influx of neighbors as well. Between that and the usual crowd at the coffee shop, the Borders folk decided to stay and continue to sell books while we were playing (I signed them during the break and after the two-set gig). They ended up moving a couple dozen copies of A MAGIC OF TWILIGHT and several sets of the paperback CLOUDMAGES series.

I'll attribute the fact that I was able to get through the two sets without utterly embarrassing myself as a singer was due to everyone's good wishes. The cold was still there and my voice was more scratchy than usual, and I wasn't about to attempt any song that required me to stretch the voice, but I got through it without too many cracks. Not what it should have been, but OK.

Mark and I had fun, and people applauded. We were happy.

The Borders store wants to have us do a "Sign and SIng" in their store now -- we're going to check dates and see what we can do.

Again, thanks to everyone who came out! It was a blast!
