Yay!

Today's mail brought the contracts and (even better) the "on acceptance" portion of the advance for my story in BUSTED FLUSH, the second of the new Tor WILD CARDS books, edited by George RR Martin. The story will be called "Dirge In A Major Key" (by S.L. Farrell), and will once again feature Michael Vogali (aka DB, aka Drummer Boy), who also appears in "Incidental Music For Heroes" in INSIDE STRAIGHT.

INSIDE STRAIGHT, the first book in the new series, will appear in hardcover in January 2008. I notice the amazon page is already up, though there isn't much information on it as yet. INSIDE STRAIGHT, I think, will be a terrific book and a fantastic rebirth of the series. You'll all buy it, right?

BUSTED FLUSH's publication date is at the moment TBD; George is still waiting to see all the stories, then there will be the usual fairly extensive re-writing to make all the stories in the book hang together and all the usage of characters consistent. But for the moment, I'll revel in the acceptance of my draft and pay some bills!

Should be done very soon. Gail just spent the weekend in Nashville for her sister's surprise 50th birthday party, so I had plenty to sit around the house, I mean, sit in front of the computer hammering away.

I'm concerned I may go a little long, but, hey, it's wild card and its what happens. (Though I am trying to rein it in.)
